Everyday foot care, done properly
Many of the most common foot problems are also the most uncomfortable — a corn that hurts with every step, an ingrown toenail that keeps getting worse, or cracked heels that never seem to heal. General podiatry covers the assessment and treatment of these everyday conditions, and it is the foundation of what we do at The Podiatrists of Mona Vale.
With over 25 years of experience caring for feet on Sydney's Northern Beaches, we treat every patient with an outstanding level of podiatric care — from a one-off problem to ongoing routine foot maintenance.
Conditions we treat
- Corns and calluses — painful areas of hardened skin, carefully reduced and managed so they are less likely to return
- Ingrown toenails — relief from painful, inflamed nail edges and advice to prevent recurrence
- Warts and plantar warts — assessment and treatment of stubborn viral warts on the sole of the foot
- Cracked heels — debridement and skin care for dry, split heels
- Athlete's foot — management of fungal skin infections
- Fungal and thickened, brittle toenails — nail cutting, reduction and treatment advice
Do I need a referral?
No. In Australia you can make a podiatry appointment directly — a doctor's referral is only required for patients under the Department of Veterans' Affairs or a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. We welcome both, and offer on-the-spot HICAPS claims for private health funds.
What to expect at your appointment
Your podiatrist will examine your feet, discuss your symptoms and general health, and in most cases begin treatment at the same visit. You will also receive practical advice on footwear and home care so that problems are less likely to come back.
